This time last year I was packing to on my first ever cruise around the Caribbean! Admittedly, I didn't have a clue what to wear. With a mix of articles and blog posts sharing all different sorts of advice, I thought I would put together a post to share my experiences of style on the ship and give suggestions of what I think you should pack!

Formal night style on the cruise

Firstly, formal night! Formal night is something I got completely lost at. I didn't have a clue what to wear. How formal if formal night on a cruise?

Well this is what I wore and certainly felt it was the perfect choice

What to wear through the day on a cruise?

When I am usually on holiday, hot pants and a bikini top usually do the trick but on a cruise you just get that feeling of covering up that little bit more.

I of course took plenty of bikinis but the odd swimsuit did help! The majority of the people on the cruise are above the ages of 35 therefore many were seen to be wearing swimsuits. As a young adult, I certainly weren't up for covering up all the time especially in 35 degree heat so a swimsuit like this was perfect for covering up, whilst looking stylish too.

This specific swimsuit is from Boohoo and one similar can be found here

When it comes to exploring off the ship, or gong for lunch throughout the day I guess this would be like any other holiday. A simple throwover dress like this would be perfect to be able to cover up but then slip off when heading to the beach.

Shorts and a vest top is also a good option, especially if you choose to take off your top for tanning but also feeling cute in your style

shorts can be found on Missguided here

And lastly, beach cover up like this one is something I would definitely recommend. More to use whilst on the ship, laying around the pool or walking around the decks. Walking in your bikini can feel slightly uncomfortable on a cruise therefore being able to throw a cover up like this really is something that I see as a must to pack. You can find out where this is from here

A casual/drinks evening

Many think that when on a cruise, formal evening wear is something that is needed every night. This is not true at all. Over the two weeks I was on the cruise, two formal nights occurred. You do have the choice to go to the more formal restaurants if you want extra nights as dressing up but casual drinks and 'night out' wear is definitely accepted and worn across the board.

Here is some of the outfits I wore whilst having drink nights on the ship!

The below outfit is something I took to add a bit of brightness to my winter holiday wardrobe! As you can tell from my Instagram I love colour when it comes to fashion. Colour makes you stand out and certainly your tan.

This outfit can be found here

Are you going on a cruise and want some extra advice? What company to book with or where to go?

As mentioned in my previous outfit post , last week me and my boyfriend sailed the Mediterranean visiting places such as Monaco, St Tropez and Florence. You can see what I got up to on my Instagram here however before I write a travel post with all my holiday pictures.. I will be starting with a few outfit posts for those looking for holiday inspiration. So keep an eye on my fashion posts for more inspo.

This lilac Kaftan is from the Iconique Cruise collection mentioned here and was one of my favourite day outfits during this holiday! This piece was the perfect cover up for the beach and when talking a stroll through the beautiful streets of Monaco. I don't know about you but I always have this good idea before holiday to dress up during the day, create beach waved hair with some heeled sandals and a cute beach bag. BUT we all know that doesn't work out. The 35 degree heat just ruins that idea completely and the thought of wearing thick clothing and my hair down with curls makes me feel sweaty already.

Therefore lightweight thin kaftans were perfect for holiday this year... so easy to throw on and looks beautiful too.

As you can see on my Instagram I LOVE showing of my tan with bright coloured clothing and this did exactly that!

Recently I returned from my second cruise of the year! That's right ... in January I experienced my first ever cruise where I sailed around the Caribbean and had the best time of my life! As mentioned in my post here , I was never keen on the thought of a cruise however spending 2 weeks in paradise visiting islands such as Antigua, Barbados and St Lucia ... I can honestly say it was the best thing I have ever done and therefore booked another!

After announcing the exciting news I would be cruising around the Med, Patricia Eve  got in touch introducing their Iconique Cruise collection! Their style is inspired from the fresh natural atmosphere of the Mediterranean coast and includes colourful cover ups, flowing dresses, and beautiful kaftans. PERFECT!

The maxi lace dress (RRP £67.45) is not something I would normally wear however being in St Tropez, the style was perfect. The bottom half of the dress was absolutely stunning, with layered lace and white mesh. The dress was so flattering, and finished perfectly with a large beach hat. This one is from Primark for just £5

Home Sweet Home
Relaxing after a fun weekend
Across the Valentines weekend me and Harry spent our time in the beautiful northern city of Edinburgh! Whilst away in the Caribbean (which you read about here), we made a list of new places we would like to visit in 2016! Australia, Jamaica and Santorini were on that list but so was Scotland too! I have never even visited Scotland before (a little sad when its just 4-5 hours away in car) and have always wanted too. We spent the weekend in a Novotel hotel which was a fairly good priced and very nice! The hotel is 4 star and was perfectly located right next to a tram stop outside the door making Edinburgh sights easily accessible. Because it was Valentines, this was an easy option and couldn't be happier with our stay :)

On arrival, we noticed the sudden drop in temperature and the snow in the hills! However, as soon as we started walking around the city to do a bit of sightseeing the snow came down and to be honest it made it look even more beautiful than it is. On the first night we visited the local theatre and watched the famous Blood Brothers! We had AMAZING seats (probably the best in the house) and throughly enjoyed the show!

After that we went for cocktails and wine and visited some lovely wine bars in the city.

The next day we went touring! You can't go to a new city and not act as a tourist for the day! We walked everywhere! Up and down hills, to the top of the castle and down again and through all the tiny little shops that Edinburgh had to offer. We loved all of the small cafe's and spent most of our time in these keeping warm and enjoying homemade shortbread!

As part of my travel plans in 2016 I hope you enjoyed my pictures and you can see more and what I get up to on my Instagram here
